CFMOTO CUP - Serres Racing Circuit

Round 5 of the Romanian National Championship and the Eastern-European Championship has come to an end. The weather forecast didn't look favorable for the riders, as the chances of rain were over 80%.

Qualifying session

In the first part of the day, all 9 riders went through the official qualifying session. The results were as follows:

13-year-old Ionut Purdea had a minor crash during qualifying, but luckily he walked away from it without being injured. His 300SR motorcycle was fixed just in time for the race at 1 PM.

After the warm-up run, the riders were in for a 6-lap long race. The more experienced, all-star riders that took part in the CFMOTO Cup event slowed down their pace in the final lap, so as not to affect the overall rankings of the series.

Cristian Radu manages to win his fourth race so far this season, increasing his lead in the Cup rankings.

"I had a good race today, and I feel like I haven't used all my resources yet. I had a poor start, but I was back in the lead a short while after and I won. I'm going to be even faster in tomorrow's race, just watch me go!"

Fabian Cojocariu maintained a good rhythm during the race, despite his lack of training on the Greek track.

"It was very tough on me at first, as I struggled with severe elbow pain following my accident. As the lights turned green, we were off, and the pain faded away. I improved my lap times and finished in second place. Even though I tried to catch up to Cristian, it's obvious that he listened to the advice that our colleague Andrei Poponut gave him: don't use the brakes to slow down!"

Darius Boagiu secured his first-ever Motorcycle Road Racing podium today, even though this was the second time he was taking part in an official event.

"I felt happy today because I was faster than before and I felt safe while doing so. This was my first official race, so I was pretty anxious waiting for the lights to turn green. But I didn't feel any pressure anymore, I felt relaxed and this is probably the key to success. After 6 laps I wasn't tired at all, it would've been nice to have an additional six laps. Until today I felt that I couldn't go faster than 1 minute and 45 seconds, but it seems that I've overcome that mental barrier"

Vlad Chivu went through his first official CFMOTO Cup race today:

"Getting back in the saddle of the 300SR was heartwarming indeed. I was once again impressed by how much faster the kids have become, you can see that they've learned a lot in the Junior Racing School. I was in the lead of the race for 1 lap. The younger riders were all motivated to try and beat us, to study our lines, and to learn a thing or two from us. You always have to have your eyes set on a faster rider than you if you want to see some progress".
