CFMOTO CUP - Serres Racing Circuit

The sixth race of the 2022 CFMOTO Cup season was the most exciting one so far. The young riders fought hard throughout the six laps at Serres, and the battle at the top of the field felt like something you'd see at the highest level of racing.

Fabian Cojocariu and Cristian Radu passed each-other several times, but the result was always the same. The 16-year-old rider from Constanta won his fifth race of the season, out of six races. Speaking about the race, Cristian said:

"I've never had such an intense battle with anyone until now. Fabian was faster at the start of the race, but I managed to overtake him in the second corner. I was shocked to see him passing me later on, I didn't expect that to happen. But I reacted immediately and went back to leading the race. He overtook me four times today, it was quite spectacular. Even though I won, I am somewhat disappointed by the fact that I didn't achieve my second objective for the weekend: a fast lap of 1 minute and 38 seconds. If I would have done that, I would have been the fastest CFMOTO 300SR rider in Serres, even faster than the 2021 CFMOTO Cup champion, Valentin Polexici"

Fabian Cojocariu also spoke about the 6-lap long battle with Cristian:

"It was a tight race from start until finish. I had a good start, and there were four of us fighting for the lead in the first corner: myself, Cristian Radu, Andrei Poponut and Vlad Chivu. The battle with Cristian was epic, to say the least. We even made contact at one point, as my handlebar scraped his fairing somewhere in the area of the track that we call the Velodrome. Looking back at how fast he was yesterday, I was surprised that I could keep up with him today. I was calm all throughout the race, but my self-preservation instinct kicked in towards the end. As I had just overtaken him, I thought to myself that I can't bear to crash again. That short moment of hesitation determined the final result. He won 5 races and finished in P2 in one event. I won just 1 race, and I took P2 in five other events. There's only one more double round left before the 2022 season comes to an end, so I guess Navak is going to be equally as exciting"
